so before i start this off, if your going to hate or tell me "dont do it cuz it makes your car look ghetto" and s*** like that, dont post. im only looking for opinions and no bull****.

so tomorrow im taking my car in to get my windows tinted. originally i thought of going 30% on the sides and 20% in the back. but i realized 30 might be too light and considered going to 25. i dont want it to be too light but not too dark where cops will be all over it. im definitely going the same on all 4 sides but idk how dark to go. any opinions?

GV Autosport is doing my windows btw

be safe go 30-35, 15-20 you will probably will be ok.

Word of advice, and it will look fine most people do it this way. If you go 30-35 make rear window 15-20. If you go 15-20 make the rear window 5-10.

Just my opinion from experience and seeing it on friends cars.

and your not going to shades of gray because?...support your vendors...do 15 or don't tint at all

i have 30% all the way around and couldn't be happier, it looks dark enough yet some people wouldn't even realize you have tint unless they were really looking for it. my opinion on the rear window is actually opposite, i say got no darker than 25% on the rear mainly being due to light issues at night. sometimes its even hard for me with 30% backing up at night seeing things and the darker you go the harder it will be.

but most importantly go with what will make you happy since it is your car.

^very valid point. My friends never cared which is why I said it. But do follow his advice. 25% at the darkest.

Legal wise...you can paint any windows behind the driver black if you so choose. Others can have nothing.

Personally I'd keep it as light and functional as possible in the front to avoid unwanted attention.

im really considering 25% on the sides and 20% on the back. just looking for input

Not 100% true. That only applies to wagons, SUVs, and trucks. 2 and 4 door vehicles can only have 70% tint.

Was about to say that 11secdsm but wasn't sure. But anyway

While I do agree keep it functional, anything lighter than 15-25 for the rear and you will be disapointed.

IMO 30% looks nice on white cars. I got 30% all around from shades of grey and I love it. Next time I see you on the road check it out haha.

got 15 all around and love it...cant see on dark street backing up but just open ur window...cops won't mess with a dub car

Another major determining factor. Is that your car in the pic? White? If its a white car be careful with 15-20 it 'appears' darker on white cars because of the contrast. Just a heads up.

Sublime1304

yes that is my car. im thinking ill be safe with 25 on the sides. 20 on the back is no problem to me

AutobahnRacer

Personally I think that will look pretty good. Go for it, good luck and post some pics once its done.

They will tell you all this (I'm telling in case its your first time getting tint) but dont put your windows down for I think its 3 days, and don't use amonia products on the tint.

15% is hella dark in night cops will be over you . I had on my civic 15% all around and got cops 3 times month i say no darker than 20. Regardless at night its pitch dark IMO.

Do whatever you want. It isn't legal so no matter what percent it is doesn't matter. I'm at 35% and like it but at night it can be a PITA.

I have 20% on all windows and love it. I had something like 7% on my Mazda, and hated it.

Since you have a white car, I'd consider going a little lighter.

I say go %30 or %25 on all the windows, and do them evenly, none darker than the others... anything less than that will DEF. attract too much attention, plus on a white car %30/%25 will look like %15/%10 on say a black car... just because of the contrast... plus is your interior black? if so, that makes it look even darker from the outside... you may want to do %35...

I had %15 on all 5 windows on my car, wayyy too much attention, and with black interior, it looked like %5... I won't go that dark again if I could do it over..

+1 for 25% all the way around. I do mixed middle of no where and city driving, and I have 35, and every time I walk out side I wish I would have done 25 instead for looks... Another thing, if you plan on tinting your tail lights, don't go as dark on the tint or you you will be definitely rolling down your windows to back up.

I went with 30 on all four sides and 20 on the back and it's darker than I thought it would be. With my car being white and my interior black, it looks darker than it really is. I love it. I'm being safe with only going to 30

How about just not tinting your windows like it's 1995?

I have 5% on the rear and quarters. Wouldn't have it any other way. Looks awesome and I have no problems at night. Fronts are untinted to avoid tickets, but I'm considering doing them very light like 35%ish.

How about just not tinting your windows like it's 1995?

I like not being blinded at night and it keeps the interior cooler. Plus it looks better than clear glass.

This place is da bomb for legal info.

He's from NJ, and what he said is correct for NJ. There is zero restriction with what you do to windows behind the front two. It's illegal period in PA though.

That's not entirely accurate. (based on info from a reputable inspection station)

This info was from an inspection station:

state doesnt govern window tinting in PA, however local townships and boroughs do. this applies to all windows besides windshield. contact your local township and find out from them what they allow. some may not even have codes on it yet as the changed legislation is new.

even though the pa state laws dont directly dictate tinting limits...
basically do whatever you want on the rear windows, and do 35% on the fronts if you wanna be safe in nearly ALL places.

It is 100% true (at the time of safety) when applied through an inspection station.

I don't see why the traffic law would be any different.

Im also talkin NJ here. PA law is different.

id recommend not doing your front at all like you said you wanted to. a guy i know lives in jersey and he had 45% on his front windshield and got tickets for it and had to take em off

So what was the tint trend in NJ in 1995... Would it look right on my 1995 Mustang... would I be rolling fresh like vanilla ice? or thats not ill I guess haha

JimH

vanilla rolled in the 5.0 with the rag top down so his hair could blow...So tint wouldn't matter. :)

I had 20% all around (except windshield) on the 350Z, and was pretty happy with it. No tickets either in NJ or PA, I lived in both places each with the car and got it tinted about a week after owning. I went to Pro-Tinting in Elizabeth on Rahway Ave. It was $100 with 1-year warranty, but even after 3 years there was no fading or peeling. I'll be going back there soon with the other cars. Someone told me they recently raised their price to $120, but its still a good enough deal for me.

I have 20% all around and never a problem.

I past cars all had 5% double layered and never had an issue except in some small towns where the cops have nothing better to do. Oh and forget about seeing things at night lol.

I was thinking 30 or 35 origionally, but wound up going with 20. I have a dark interior and it's actually makes a huge difference. I figured, like somone else said, any tint is illegal, so if your gonna do it, you may as well go for the gusto. I like my 20 all the way around.
