Thanks everyone so far, I know I keep saying one last question, but I keep running into more and more questions. I really appreciate all of everyone's help and patience

Here is the manual for a Pioneer DEH-P4900ib.
RADIO MANUAL

From what I can tell, this HU has a HP filter for my speakers and a LP filter for my subs.

Can anyone confirm that I am reading this correctly please?

HP filter ---- Page 20 of the PDF (Using the high pass filter)
What I believe to be LP filter Page 19 bottom right of the PDF (Adjusting the Subwoofer settings)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

IF THIS HU has both filters, should I use headunit filters over my amps filter? The amp only has a LP cut off of 80 non-adjustable

OLD QUESTION__________________________________________ _____________
Hey I need some really quick help. I am working on my car radio and noticed that the wire to one of the speakers is the same color and neither has the stripe on it indicating which is negative.

How do I determine which is negative? I cannot track it back to the speaker.

Just hook it up and listen. If it is distorted the flip the wires arround. It won't cause immediate damage especially if you don't jack the volume up.

You could probally use a volt meter to see if there is any volt/amp changes in the 'hot' wire.

I am left with a blue/white wire on the radio's harness. Would I connect my subwoofers amp REM wire to that blue/white wire?

amp remote is solid blue I believe.

blue/white is power antenna. Again. I think. lol

you can connect the remote turn on wire to that. make sure in the radios instruction manual that the wire you're referring to isnt a switched power for the antenna. That would cause your amp to shut off whenever you switch to cd, aux input, or am radio lol.

but yes,in short blue or blue white are usually the remote wires for your amp.

Im assuming this stereo work is going on in your 2003 VW jetta (listed as my ride) did it come with the monsoon system? If its not the monsoon system, heres the color codes for your factory harness:

i have mine set at 80 for both. might as well leave the switch alone for the amp.

But as far as the headunit is concerned do you read the manual the same way that I do in that it does have a lp and a hp filter?

dont listen to this guy

flipping the wires will not cause distortion. you may lose some sound quality, depending on the range of the speaker.

it will never damage the speaker. speakers are just a coil of wire with a magnet going through it, they dont care what direction the current is flowing.

@supraghost

Thanks for clearing that up. I was starting to get paranoid about the whole speaker thing.

Anyone able to help with the newest question? I am just about done with my audio system setup.

Car, where are you located? it would probably be easier for me to just set it up for you than explain it lol.

I live near Exton, West Chester, KOP, Wilmington, and Downingtown. I have the tune perfect to where I want it, its just the filters that I need help with.
