Sorry this is so long...but suck it up and read it.
As some of you know, my father and I picked up an M coupe this past weekend. http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100460 Anyone who knows anything about BMW's know that these cars are very prone to catastrophic rear subframe/differential mounting failure. Now, when we picked up the car, we put the car up on jackstands and inspected the entire rear end, as well as pulled back the carpeting in the rear to inspect it from the top down. Everything was in immaculate shape! BUT...we have plans for the car and it will be making more than stock power and we don't want the extra power to start causing the rear end problems. So...after doing some research the week before we bought the car I found that someone does make a full reinforcement kit that needs to be welded in. It reinforces the rear subframe and adds an extra mounting point for the rear differential. It'll drive like stock, but the rear end will now handle any power that we can throw at it. At that point I figured I'd call Turner Motorsports out in MA and speak to Marco, the service manager (he's incredibly informative and active on bf.c...he knows his ****!). I wanted to inquire as to whether they would do the work...seeing as they specialize in BMW's. He said he "highly recommends" going to Maximum PSI and working with Mike, whom is a personal friend of his. That's where my question comes into play...has anyone had any experience with this garage? Needless to say it's quite a drive from where we are...and I wouldn't trust taking the car to just anyone. Maximum PSI quoted the job at over 25 hours of labor. I just don't want to drive the car 4 hours (one way) away and spend over $2,500 in just labor to a shop I haven't researched. Any info would be appreciated.
