Who else pre-ordered the iPhone 4?

I tried doing it at midnight or better yet early in the am on the 15th but they still weren't available. Had work all day so couldnt do it while at the same time friends told me the att computers crashed do to overloads and some bs. anyways just now, I ordered my iPhone 4. Who else did? The only thing that sucks is I won't get it until July 6-8.

If you haven't pre-ordered yet, Apple says its going to be an extra 2 weeks before you receive it. They have officially sold out of the first wave of shipments for pre-orders according to their site.
I did not pre-order. Oh well... I'd like it soon just cause its cool, but I'm not going psycho over it.

Went in to the local apple store around 4pm and pre-ordered mine. They where freaking swamped though. Took about half an hour to get help to pre-order one.

I'm waiting until Christmas to buy one. I figure that'll be enough time for Apple to have all the little kinks worked out, because you know that there will be some.

However .. I just found out this morning that my boyfriend's sister preordered one. Why? Because her fiance dropped his Blackberry in the toilet, so he's getting her old iPhone and she's getting the new 4G. I laughed. Anyway, it'll be nice to be able to see and play with hers before getting my own.

Once AT&T loses the contract and the iPhonethatactuallyworks comes out on Verizon, I'll be getting one. I just bought a Touch for myself and a Nano for the woman a couple weeks ago, so I do love Apple products. Until then, my 6 year old flip phone will do.

I bought my 3GS on launch day and I'm eligible for an upgrade. If I remember correctly the normal upgrade cycle for AT&T is 12-18 months if you spend over $99 a month on your phone bill. They also reduced upgrade cycles by 6 months to get more people to upgrade sooner. Also, in the past they have only extended my plan by a single year instead of 2 since I've gone from original iPhone > 3g >3gs.

Exactly. I didn't pre-order the 3GS last year either. I just walked into Best Buy about two hours after they opened and went straight to the mobile phone section. 15 minutes later I walked out with my iPhone.

Just found out im not eligible for an upgrade until feb '11, but I'm on a family plan and my mom has an upgrade that she doesnt want to use. So i'll be taking it. :)

I have the 16g 3gs now, and I'm only using like 4g of space on it, and have had it for a year. I cant decide if i should get the 16g or 32g, since ill probably be trying to put some movies or something on the new one.

So I'm not sure if it'd be worth hanging onto the 3gs for that reason, or buying the 4g at full list price so my plan doesnt change.

Not true. As long as you currently have the unlimited data plan you can keep it. The new data plans only apply to new customers after June 7th.

Thanks! So the only thing really earth shattering for the 3gs is the zoom... but I would assume itd be no different than the digital zoom i have with Camera Genious.

The folders helped me out a ton. When I put beta 1 of 4.0 on my 3GS I had so many garbage apps so being able to put them in to folders tidy'd things up a bunch.
The geotagging of pictures isn't a "gamechanger" but pretty slick when I saw that some old California pictures were tagged as so.

And whats the deal with tethering? You pay $25/month for 2gigs of internets, and $20/month for tethering... does the bandwith you use for tethering come off your 2gigs a month? And if so, wouldnt we be paying for the same service twice?

If the tethering comes with an additional (and substantial) amount of bandwith, i'd seriously consider it (as Im currently paying $52/month for internet service). But if thats all coming off my 2 gigs a month, well **** that.

Also, Im still on the plan thats $30/month for unlimited internets. Can I upgrade to the 4g without affecting this? Even though I rarely (if ever) exceed that 2gigs, it just seems to me the extra $5 is worth not having a limit.

Folders - Yeah, that's pretty much all they do.
Geotagging - Meaning that the pictures I took have the latitude/longitude attached to them so that it knows where they were taken.

Tethering - For tethering you can have either the 200MB or 2GB plan I think. If you currently have the $30 unlimited plan they make you drop down to the $25 2GB plan. Also on top of the $15/$25 plans you are charged the $20 tethering fee. That fee is just for the ability to tether, it doesn't give you any extra features aside from AT&T not calling you when you get caught tethering your phone.

So the $20 for tethering is just a bull**** fee, and theyre charging me for the same internet twice. Sounds like a scam to me. If im paying an extra $20 a month just for the ABILITY to tether... It should come with unlimited internet as well. Otherwise I cant see the benefit.

Data is the major unit that people use anymore so they're just trying to make their money where they can.

The only way I know of to tether is to either set it up through AT&T by signing up on the phone or by jailbreaking. If you do it via jailbreaking just be aware that they can probably slap you with some sort of fine for doing it outside of a tether agreement.

So...I'm thinking about switching to Atnt and the Iphone 4. Not sure exactly how it works though. If I went to say radio shack/local Atnt building around my work tomm 7am'ish. Are all the Iphones given to Atnt/Shack/Walmart already pre-ordered? Or do they alot a certian number not pre-ordered phones just available for regular purchase on June 24th also?

I doubt it'll help your decision but with the 2GB plan you get additional 1GB blocks for $10 each time you need one. I wouldn't consider myself a heavy internet user on my iPhone but I hover right around 350MB a month but I'm also on WiFi the entire time I'm at home.

I wouldn't worry about hitting the cap with any phone but a 4G phone on regular use. If you tether, that's a whooooole different ballgame.

Does that extra gig roll over? Aka if i go over by 50mb one month and purchase the $10 1gig block, will that only be good for that month, or will that go towards future months? If i have to buy an extra $10 block EACH MONTH that I go over, then Im sticking with my 3GS.

They don't do rollover data as far as I know but if you have a 3GS then you keep the unlimited data plan if you upgrade.

the phones they have are most likely pre-ordered through them for customers. just go to your local att store that sells the iphone and pre-order yours. i did that with the 3gs last year.
