Still, I'd stay wingless.

Keep in mind that wing doesn't look to have a third brake light in it. You'll have to get a cyclops for inside. Don't think it it'll be difficult to do since some come without wings anyway.

Basically if u actually drive ur car like it is capable of, (ie if uve ever topped 100mph and intend to do so again) then it shouldnt even be a question....put the effing wing on. despite what some people think, Our cars were designed to have some rear downforce (stock, wings west, w/e) and to take that off is to **** up ur car's dynamics and high speed safety.
if u just bought it to be seen in and dont really push it, then do whatever non functional ricer BS u want. lol
I tried rolling around wingless for a while, but how the rear truck is formed, it looks really odd without a spoiler. I have a WRB WRX spoiler if you want it. I had it on my WRX for a while before I put the STi one back on.

I say what the hell, throw the wing on there, i think i see more wingless subies now than winged. And who cares about the whole function over form thing, theres nothing wrong with putting a wing on your car if you think it looks good. No different than eyelids or sideskirts... But I do think a lip spoiler would look best :)

wingless
I was going to say wingless .. but after a little more thought, I say put the wing on. The whole world is wingless these days, and it's starting to get kinda mundane. I've never liked a car with a completely nekkid back end -- even more-so on the WRX, since something needs to balance the hood scoop.

Except for the fact that a wing on these cars is fully functional, and not really for form at all. People who take them off are the guilty party there.

Barely. For proper functionality the wing needs to be attached to the body. Other then that there is very minor differences on and off.

definitely as much so as stock, and i know the stock wing is functional.
Plus, it looks effing bad ass. Im not a big fan of wingless subarus unless they have an aggressive bodykit like Bills car does. otherwise without a wing it looks awkward. that mixed with the fact that ur actually ****ing up the way the car handles at high speeds (and if u ever get any air....i know I have lol). theres no point in going wingless, especially when it looks bad ass with one on it.

When you're rocking a wing on the trunk especially in our cars the actual downforce that is created gets lost from trunk flex and wing flex. None of that downforce actually makes it to the suspension to actually "push" the car down. This was all explained to me my my friend who designes aero on racecars all day. But hey what does he know.

I am very stuck i feel the wingless trunk looks aqward. if i were to go wingless i would get a mines spoiler or the limited spoiler. i then like the wings west wing but i feel like it is a bit on the ricy side im not sure if i would like it better if it was all one color.

wings west isn't ricey per se but just doesn't suit the "flow" of your car.
if you were to probably add a few more acute angles/edges like more aggressive front lip, rear lip and some sort of side skirt.

very enlightening. and i see ur point.
maybe at 80mph that is so, but im pretty sure that at 150+ there will be some noticeable effects as far a stability is concerned. all those racecars u showed are not built (or probably even geared) to go up to such speeds that the street cars can do. I know alot of subaru race cars run out of gears at 120-130 range because they dont need to go any faster than that in their races. So yes ur right about overall, but to say it has little or no effect at high speed i would have to disagree with heavily.
also, the other purpose of our wing is to keep the car from nosediving when airborne. now idk how many people on here have needed it for that purpose  but I personally have once or twice, and im glad i had it.
point being the car was designed with the wing, its well known that subaru designed it to be functional. yes other wings may be more funtional when mounted off the trunk, but that hardly renders the other sort useless. and to whatever degree, the performance of his car will be worse off for not having it.

I plan on getting a V-limited lip and jdm rear aprons. i also plan on lowering my car im not sure if this will make everything flow better

its attached to thin metal that isn't directly attached to the body of the car. As the spoiler creates downforce the boot lid is pushed down and bent, the actual downforce exerted on the car's structural body to enhance handling is minimal at best
